๐„๐š๐ซ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ญ๐จ ๐›๐ž๐, ๐ž๐š๐ซ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐ž - This is best if you start a couple weeks before the first day. Limit screen time in the evenings, read or do a quiet activity before bed.

๐„๐ง๐œ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐š๐ ๐ž ๐ˆ๐ง๐๐ž๐ฉ๐ž๐ง๐๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž - Have them be apart of shopping for school supplies and clothing, children who play an active role in preparing for back to school are more likely to get excited about going back to school, which in turn eases their jitters.

โœฆ ๐Š๐ˆ๐๐ƒ๐„๐‘๐†๐€๐‘๐“๐„๐ โœฆ Back to school is coming up quickly! If you have a little one going into their first day of kindergarten it's good to prepare them for the culture shock, here are a few tips on how to do so:

โœฆ ๐•๐ข๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ฌ๐œ๐ก๐จ๐จ๐ฅ- Before the first day some teachers invite families to visit ahead of time, we were able to volunteer at our school this summer. Join your childโ€™s schoolโ€™s page, it is a great way to meet other parents of students the same age. Take a trip to the school to see the building and the playground.

โœฆ ๐‘๐ž๐š๐ ๐ ๐จ๐จ๐ ๐›๐จ๐จ๐ค๐ฌ-ย ย Literature is a great way to prompt a discussion about going off to school! The Calgary public library has great grab bags for back to school or for the first day of school and you can do curbside pick up!

โœฆ ๐๐ซ๐š๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐œ๐ž, ๐ฉ๐ซ๐š๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐œ๐ž, ๐ฉ๐ซ๐š๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐œ๐ž- Learning how to get ready each morning for the trip to school takes time and practice. It's helpful to practice this before the actual first day. Pretend it's a school day, and go through the steps of getting up, dressed, fed, and out the door.

It's not too early to start the ritual of shopping for special school outfits or a backpack. It doesn't have to be something expensive. Even a "new-to-you" item will have meaning when it is designated especially for back to school.

Check with your carrier or human resources. In any case, it makes sense to get the enrollment form and start filling it out now, leaving blanks for the baby's name and birth date.
