🔔 Rate news: the Bank of Canada held again.
For the 7th time in a row, the Bank of Canada left its policy rate at 2.25% today, right where it’s sat since December 2025. That keeps prime at 4.45%, so variable payments don’t move.
But here’s the part worth reading: the Bank flagged that inflation risks are rising, and some of Canada’s big banks now think the next move could be a hike, not a cut. If your plan has been “wait for rates to drop,” it’s worth a rethink.
What today’s hold means for you 👇
• Buying? You can plan on today’s numbers with confidence, lock a rate hold while you shop.
• Renewing? Don’t count on a cut to rescue your renewal. Let’s look at your options now.
• On a variable rate? No change to your payment today.
Next decision: October 28.
