(and How to Avoid It)

Buying a business almost always takes longer — and feels messier — than people expect. In our latest episode of The 7-Minute Takeover, we unpack the most common reasons buyers stall, burn out, or walk away before getting to close.

A few key reminders for buyers:
Get clearer, sooner. Being too broad in your search can slow you down and signal uncertainty. A thoughtful thesis helps brokers take you seriously and helps you move faster when the right deal appears.
Speed matters. Moving too slowly can create doubt with sellers and brokers. When a good opportunity shows up, decisiveness signals confidence and readiness.
Be financially deal-ready early. Knowing where your equity is coming from and how lenders think before LOI makes everything downstream smoother.
Relationships win deals. Marketplaces are a starting point, not the strategy. Strong broker relationships and clear communication make a real difference.
