Credit Unions of Alberta

Credit Unions of Alberta Imagine a bank that doesn't act like a bank. Be ready for life: albertacreditunions.com. We also offer all the regular services and support of a bank, too.

The Credit Unions of Alberta offer you all the services and support of a major financial institution – except you're the one who benefits. The Credit Unions of Alberta work hard every day to build something better, helping to shape the communities we work and live in. With 13 separate unions serving more than 622,000 members, we're deeply ingrained in Alberta from cities to rural townships. We are

your friends, neighbours, and colleagues, working together for a brighter future.

Unlike a bank, credit unions are owned and operated by our members. That means when you join you automatically get an equal voice in how we operate, and you also get a share of our profits annually. In 2022, we returned more than $108M to our members in patronages and share dividends.

But that's not all. Whether you're looking for a mortgage or a home loan, a business loan, a car loan, a student loan, want to open a savings or investment account, or need wealth management or financial planning advice, you can find a friendly expert willing to help at your local CUOA union.

Be ready for family. Be ready for your golden years. Be ready for business. Be ready for life.

Thank you for supporting Credit Unions of Alberta.

A heartfelt thank‑you to everyone who has visited the Credit Unions of Alberta website over the years 💚

Starting in early March, the site and brand will be retired. While the website is closing, Alberta’s credit unions remain here for you. Your local credit union will continue to be the best place to find news, support and community connections.

Have you heard about CUforGood? It's a social impact program that reinvests into communities on behalf of the Credit Unions of Alberta.

Over the last year, the CUforGood team has visited sites across southern Alberta and linked up with local community organizations to create something new. These “Good Neighbour Gardens” are community gathering places where neighbours can come together to learn, grow, and make something good for the future 🌱

It’s all part of our goal to connect people, prepare for a better future, and make an impact on pressing issues like food security.

Our gardens just keep growing!

The CUforGood team joined up with the Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization and Winston Churchill High School to learn about food security and new tech that makes it easier to maintain small gardens indoors.

Students from the school spoke taught the group about Tower Gardens – self-contained, vertical gardening units that allow indoor cultivation of herbs and small vegetables. For people in small or communal homes, these towers provide another place for residents to connect and grow something good together.

Join us on our journey to keep connecting and strengthening our communities, one garden at a time!

Just like hitting the gym, financial planning works best when you start young. If you’re committed enough to set long-term goals and maintain the willpower to work towards them regularly, you’ll find your account building serious strength in no time.
Only unlike muscles, the gains you make will get even bigger the older you get. That’s right: your credit union is your wallet’s gym 💪

🌿 Celebrating Indigenous Innovation! 🌿

Congratulations to Dr. Karlee Fellner (Métis Nation of Alberta), founder of maskihkiy wellness and one of two recipients of the Big Future Innovation Grant from Credit Unions of Alberta!

Based near Rocky Mountain House, maskihkiy wellness is an Indigenous - owned clinical practice offering psychotherapy, land-based wellness workshops, and professional development rooted in authentic Indigenous knowledge and research to better serve Indigenous people and communities. 🌱🌎

“Receiving the Big Future Innovation Grant is a transformative gift for ᒪᐢᑭᐦᑭᕀ maskihkiy wellness. It means we can now create a year-round, land-based home for our work—a large yurt where community can gather for workshops, retreats, therapy and support groups, yoga, art, meditation, and more. It will also serve as a warm space for the forest school students we share the land with. We are deeply grateful to Credit Unions of Alberta for supporting our vision and helping us meet the wellness needs of our communities. ay hay!”

The Big Future Innovation Grant provides $25,000 to one of two Alberta-based businesses driving bold ideas and economic growth.

👏 We’re honoured to support Karlee and her community-driven approach to healing.

We're growing something good with our neighbours! 🌱

At the Land of Dreams Farm + Community east of Calgary, we partnered with the Calgary Catholic Immigration Society to launch a new Good Neighbour Garden (and special thanks to the for Innovation & Entrepreneurship for joining us for the day, too)!

It's the latest CUforGood initiative to connect people & communities – and we even got to learn more about traditional Indigenous knowledge and land stewardship🌾

They say a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step. And that’s true with finances, too.
Sure, you might get lucky and win the lottery, but for most of us financial success comes from small, smart, and consistent moves towards a big goal – whether that’s home ownership, retirement, or a big trip.
Your local credit union is here for you every step of the way, ready to offer advice that’s grounded in knowledge of everyday Alberta. Together, we’ll get you to where you’re heading 🚶‍➡️

Today, we honour the survivors of residential schools, their families, and their communities. But Truth and Reconciliation is not just one day. It’s an ongoing commitment to learning, listening, and taking meaningful action.
That’s why we’ve partnered with Royal University to support their Indigenous Entrepreneurs program – encouraging a new generation of Indigenous students to reach their full potential.
