Prime jumped from 1.50% to 2.50% overnight, the biggest move in years, as the Bank of Canada tried to cool inflation.

Fast forward to now ⏩
After a few cuts already this year and even with a rate hold predicted just last week, the Bank surprised markets with another 0.25% drop, bringing prime to 4.45%.

It’s a small cut, but a big signal.

The economy is showing signs of strain with job losses, slower growth, and weaker consumer confidence.
