Monthly Housing Market Update
Mixed start to the spring housing market

• March brought a mixed bag of housing market outcomes across Canada.
• Home resales were little changed nationwide, growing just 0.5% m/m—still far below pre-pandemic levels.
• But they were stagnant or fell in Toronto and Vancouver, where unaffordability is particularly acute.
• Drops in new listings could have been a restraining factor.
• Home prices fell marginally in Canada, driven by monthly declines in Ontario, B.C. and Nova Scotia. Montreal, Calgary, and Edmonton recorded sizable gains.

Canadian Pre-Budget Committee talking about will interest rates go up.
The discussion wasn't definitive however its sounding like the Government is backing itself into a corner, not able to raise rates even if they wanted to because of excessive debt. My guess is the rates will stay low for a long time to come.
