As was widely expected, the Bank of Canada today lowered its benchmark interest rate by 25 bps, bringing it to 4.50%.

The next rate announcement is scheduled for Wednesday, September 4, 2024

This house has a self contained illegal basement suite. Client qualified for more mortgage amount after using market rent for basement suite, resulting in more buying power.

As expected, the Bank of Canada has left its overnight target rate unchanged at 5.00% today.

This is the Bank’s sixth consecutive rate hold, though expectations are that rate cuts will be forthcoming by the middle or second half of the year.

Clients had a new job and they were with B lender, renewal was up and they wanted to switch with A lender, got declined from 2 lenders but finally got approved with third lender on A side.
