We have a team of fully licensed and very qualified team members to assist our neighbors with all their insurance needs. 300+ backpacks still needed. Hundreds of opportunities to make a difference. 🎒❤️

Every child deserves to feel prepared, confident, and ready to learn.

Our team at Anita Ip Insurance & Financial Services recently came together to pack and deliver $1,000 worth of backpacks and school supplies to the Women in Need Society (WINS), supporting Calgary families who need a helping hand.

But the need is far from over.

When we connected with WINS, we learned they were still short more than 300 backpacks to meet the needs of local families.

To our fellow Calgary businesses: will you join us?

What we've been up to: meeting new people, learning a few things. 🏏

A couple of weeks ago we joined the Calgary Chamber of Commerce for Business After Hours, hosted this time at the Calgary Cricket Centre. We toured the facility, met a lot of Calgary business owners over very good food — and then Kumud and Suranga from our commercial team stepped into the nets.

Kumud, it turns out, is a natural. Suranga, our Commercial Manager, took it a little more seriously than a networking event probably required. The office scoreboard is still being disputed.

So thankful for the chance to visit this great venue, and for the people who make Calgary's business community feel like a neighbourhood. Thank you to the Calgary Chamber and the Calgary Cricket Centre for the hospitality — we had a blast.

Cricket is one of the fastest-growing sports in Calgary — around 2,500 players on 150+ teams now, many of them newcomers who brought the game with them. Our office speaks 14 languages, so for a few of us this felt a bit like home.

October is Small Business Month, and events like this are how we actually get to know the businesses we insure — as people, not policy numbers.

Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, and Orange Shirt Day. 🧡

In 1973, six-year-old Phyllis Webstad arrived at residential school wearing a new orange shirt from her grandmother. It was taken from her on her first day. Her story is why we wear orange today, and why we say Every Child Matters.

Our team is honouring the children who never came home, the Survivors, and their families and communities.

Best kind of work night: the one with a golf club in your hand ⛳

A big thank you to United Roofing Inc. for treating our commercial team to an evening at the driving range last week. Great conversation, great connections, even better people — and a lot more fun than any of us expected on a work night.

We cross paths with a lot of Calgary trades professionals in our line of work, usually when something has gone wrong for one of our clients. So it means a lot when one of them wants to hang out just because. That's what local supporting local actually looks like.

Confession time: I run a business, I have kids, and I have about zero minutes a day to do my hair 💇🏻‍♀️

So yesterday I popped across the bridge to A.ARK Salon at Unfiltered YYC (909 5th Ave SW, second floor) and told Anna Park exactly that. What I loved most: she was so patient. I wasn't sure what I wanted, I changed my mind, and she never rushed me — she just kept asking questions until we figured it out together. Then she used these high-end Korean hair care products that made my hair feel better than it has in years, and sent me out with a cut that looks like this straight out of the chair. No round brush, no 20-minute morning routine.

Anna is a small business owner too, and as someone running a small business one bridge away in Kensington, I love seeing local people take this much care with their craft. If you're looking for a stylist downtown, you'll find her at on Instagram.
