Your Net Worth Could Be Trapped Inside Your Business…
If you're a successful business owner, there's a good chance that most of your wealth is tied up in your company.
Over the past 25 years, one of the most common blind spots I've seen is owners assuming that business value automatically translates into financial security.
It doesn't.
When the majority of your net worth is locked inside your business, you may be wealthy on paper, but that wealth isn't necessarily accessible. Until you've converted a portion of that equity into liquid assets, your financial future remains heavily dependent on a single asset: your business.
This becomes especially important when planning for retirement.
After all, you can't spend equity that hasn't been turned into cash.
It's equally important for estate planning. When a business owner passes away unexpectedly, families are often forced to make difficult decisions under pressure. Without sufficient liquidity outside the business, a rushed sale can become the only option, potentially reducing value and limiting choices.
The good news is that the solution isn't complicated.
By gradually building wealth and liquidity outside of your business over time, you can reduce risk and create more flexibility for both your retirement and your family.
The strongest exit plans don't rely entirely on one future transaction. They create options long before the day a business is sold.
If your business disappeared tomorrow, how much of your current net worth would still be accessible to you and your family?
