Bangladesh Bank has announced measures to waive merchant fees for Bangla QR transactions, aiming to encourage small businesses, shopkeepers, street vendors, and other merchants to adopt digital payments. The new measures will take effect from 1 October 2026.
Under the new framework, the Interchange Reimbursement Fee (IRF) for Bangla QR transactions will be set at zero, while merchants may also benefit from negotiated or fully waived MDR. Bangladesh Bank is also introducing incentives for eligible Bangla QR transactions of up to Tk 2,000 to further encourage digital payments.
For merchants, this means lower costs. For customers, easier digital payments. And for Bangladesh, another step toward a more inclusive cashless economy. 🇧🇩📲
At iPay, we believe the future of payments should be simple, accessible, and digital.
