The RBA have today increased the cash rate by an additional 0.25%.

The RBA have increased the official cash rate by 25bps at their meeting today.

Inflation remains a key area of concern for the RBA. Inflation is impacted by both domestic and foreign world events. Given the uncertain economic environment, the RBA have decided to increase the official cash rate to try and proactively manage inflationary pressures.

Today's decision was not unanimous, but was passed by a 5 to 4 vote.

At their meeting today, the RBA have lifted the official cash rate for the first time since November 2023.

The RBA is concerned around the risk of inflation becoming entrenched, and hard to bring back down to within their target range. They have decided on a modest increase of 25bps now, to try and manage inflation while balancing other economic factors.

The RBA have again noted that the full impact of previous interest rate cuts are yet to be realised.

The RBA made no change to the official cash rate at their meeting today, which was in line with market expectations.

The RBA have indicated they will continue to monitor the economic environment, and particularly inflation. The next RBA meeting is scheduled for February 2026.

As was widely anticipated, the RBA have made no change to the official cash rate at their meeting today.

There is some volatility in the data the RBA considers. They have determined the best course of action is to maintain the current cash rate and continue to monitor the economic climate.

The RBA's next meeting is the 3rd & 4th of November (Melbourne Cup).
