*RBA Update*

The RBA have increased the official cash rate by 0.25% at their meeting today. This was widely anticipated, given the recent inflation data.

Interestingly, this decision was not unanimous, but by majority. Six members voted to increase, while three voted to make no change to the cash rate.

With another RBA meeting still to occur in 2026 (on the 8th of December) there is scope for further action to take place before the year is over.

At their meeting today, the RBA have increased the official cash rate to 4.60%, up 25 basis points.

The RBA remain concerned about inflation. They note three key risks pushing inflation higher;

- the ongoing Middle East conflict,

- the global AI boom driving up prices and

- the weaker-than-expected supply capacity of the Australian economy.

The Board remains focused on ensuring that high inflation does not become embedded. They believe a further tightening of the financial conditions is required to try and bring inflation back within the target range.

On the home lending front, we will wait for each lender to assess their position around passing this increase on to their customers.

The RBA have made no change to the official cash rate at their monetary policy meeting today, choosing to keep the current cash rate on hold.

The RBA have today increased the cash rate by an additional 0.25%.

The RBA have increased the official cash rate by 25bps at their meeting today.

Inflation remains a key area of concern for the RBA. Inflation is impacted by both domestic and foreign world events. Given the uncertain economic environment, the RBA have decided to increase the official cash rate to try and proactively manage inflationary pressures.

Today's decision was not unanimous, but was passed by a 5 to 4 vote.

At their meeting today, the RBA have lifted the official cash rate for the first time since November 2023.

The RBA is concerned around the risk of inflation becoming entrenched, and hard to bring back down to within their target range. They have decided on a modest increase of 25bps now, to try and manage inflation while balancing other economic factors.

The RBA have again noted that the full impact of previous interest rate cuts are yet to be realised.

The RBA made no change to the official cash rate at their meeting today, which was in line with market expectations.

The RBA have indicated they will continue to monitor the economic environment, and particularly inflation. The next RBA meeting is scheduled for February 2026.
