PROJECT AWARD | PILBARA PORTS RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY MAINTENANCE

Yurra Building is pleased to announce it has been awarded a contract with Pilbara Ports to provide residential property maintenance services across its housing portfolio.

Awarded following a competitive tender process, the contract reflects Yurra Building’s established regional capability, experienced workforce and integrated in-house service delivery model.

Under the agreement, Yurra will deliver routine, urgent and planned maintenance services across the residential portfolio, including building repairs, electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, cleaning and associated property maintenance.

As a Pilbara-based, majority Yindjibarndi-owned business, the contract represents an important addition to Yurra Building’s growing maintenance portfolio and further strengthens our capability to deliver responsive, multi-disciplinary asset services across the region.

Importantly, the project will also support Yurra’s ongoing commitment to creating local and Indigenous employment and training pathways, while providing opportunities for Indigenous Businesses as regional suppliers and subcontractors.

We look forward to working with Pilbara Ports and delivering a safe, reliable and high-quality service across its residential assets.

Yurra is proud to continue supporting the Pilbara Kimberley Universities Centre (PKUC) through the Yurra Aboriginal Student Scholarship program, helping reduce some of the financial and geographical barriers that can come with undertaking further study from regional Western Australia.

This year, Yurra is supporting two scholarship opportunities:

🔹 Yurra Aboriginal Student Travel Scholarship
Three scholarships valued at $1,000 each, available to Aboriginal Students residing in the Pilbara who are registered with PKUC and studying a Certificate IV qualification or above. The scholarships can assist with course fees, learning resources and technology, as well as travel and accommodation associated with study.

🔹 Yurra Aboriginal Student Multi-Year Scholarship
One scholarship valued at $4,000, supporting a Pilbara Aboriginal Student undertaking, or intending to undertake, a Diploma or higher qualification over a study period of 18 months or longer.

For students living and working in regional communities, accessing further education can often involve additional travel, technology and study costs. Through these scholarships, Yurra is proud to play a small part in making those opportunities more accessible. Our partnership with PKUC reflects Yurra’s broader commitment to creating opportunities, developing local capability and supporting Aboriginal Peoples to pursue education and career pathways in the Pilbara.

Congratulations to Tim Clune—2026 WA Young Builder of the Year! 🏆

With more than 20 years of industry experience, Tim has built an outstanding career grounded in technical excellence, strong project leadership and a genuine commitment to developing people.

As General Manager and Registered Building Supervisor at Yurra Building, Tim leads more than 200 employees and has spent over 15 years mentoring emerging tradespeople. His work has helped create meaningful training and employment pathways for apprentices, trainees and Indigenous Peoples across regional Western Australia.

Tim has also played an instrumental role in strengthening access to regional training, including supporting the delivery of building qualifications in Karratha and Port Hedland and helping Roebourne trainees progress into apprenticeships and long-term careers.

The evening was made even more special when the Yurra Building team received the Winner - Education Facility $5–10 Million Award for the Pannawonica Childcare Centre—another achievement reflecting Tim’s leadership and the capability of the team he leads. Congratulations to all of the Yurra team that contributed to this great project.

This recognition is thoroughly deserved. Congratulations, Tim, on your outstanding contribution to Yurra, our people, regional communities and Western Australia’s construction industry.

Our Pannawonica Childcare Centre project - the design and construction of a large early childhood centre on a greenfield site - is a finalist in two categories:

• Best Commercial Project of the Year
• Best Project $5 - 10 million

This recognition reflects Tim's commitment, expertise in leading building capability and quality delivered by our team, subcontractors and project partners. Tim’s impact extends beyond his technical expertise and strong leadership, through his valued contribution to the local community and commitment to developing the next generation of Yurra apprentices.

As Western Australia’s premier building and construction awards, the program celebrates excellence across the full breadth of the industry - from residential projects to major construction works throughout metropolitan and regional WA.

Yurra was proud to showcase at the RTIO Buy Local Expo 2026 yesterday, providing a fantastic opportunity to connect with our valued clients, existing suppliers, contractors, and many new local businesses from across the Pilbara.

It was encouraging to see such strong interest in the breadth and diversity of Yurra's service capabilities, as well as our commitment to creating meaningful employment opportunities through our Apprenticeship and Career Pathways programs.

Earlier this week, we celebrated NAIDOC Week alongside community on Ngarluma Ngurra (country) at the Ngurin Cultural Centre in Ieramagadu (Roebourne).

A massive thank you to Yindjibarndi business Mayaarrinyjbangu Aboriginal Corporation for showcasing and sharing Yindjibarndi culture, history, food and language with our teams and the community – truly amazing.
