This year also represents my 12th year of service with the REIV - across Sales and Buyers Agent Chapter Committees, as a Members Council Delegate and, most recently, three years as an elected REIV Board Member and Director, together with committee service.

It has genuinely been a pleasure and privilege to serve our profession and property sector through our peak body in Victoria and enjoying the Gala Nights that celebrate the inspiring achievements of our profession.

They say “Givers gain”, and I’ve certainly found that to be true.

While 25 years working in real estate has provided enormous professional experience, the knowledge, friendships, networks and broader perspective gained from serving alongside colleagues who are willing to step up and contribute have been invaluable.

I’ve learnt from some outstanding people across residential and commercial property, leadership, industry representation, board service and governance.

As much as I’ve given my time, the REIV and the wider property profession have given just as much back to me - personally and professionally.

I’ve loved the experience and strongly encourage others to put their hand up and get involved when the next opportunity presents itself. I won't be standing as a candidate for election at the end of this current term, ending 2026.

📰 Did you read today’s Australian?

New independent modelling released by the REIA, Master Builders Australia, Housing Industry Association - HIA and Property Council warns that proposed property tax changes could deepen Australia’s housing shortage.

The modelling estimates:

🔻 10,700 fewer homes built by 2029–30
🔻 An $11 billion reduction in GDP over four years
🔺 Rents rising by around $10 a week each year, five times the Treasury estimate

At a time when Australia urgently needs more housing, policy settings must encourage investment and construction, rather than constrain supply.
