Refinance Rebates, What's the catch?

The world of consumer mortgages in Australia has never been a more competitive landscape. So much so that all the major lenders are fighting for your refinance business. Which is a huge win for the consumer. We have multiple banks offering the customer a Cash Rebate for refinances of loan sizes over $250K. The rebates range between $2K and can go up to as much $4K in some cases.

Sound too good to be true, surely there is a catch? Well not really, however there is always a cost to refinance from one lender to another and this is the reason these rebates were first created. However in most circumstances we find that even after factoring in the refinance costs , the client ends up being in front by at least 70-80% of the rebate amount and then additional savings can be made by obtaining a better rate than their current loan. The other factor needed to be considered, is it the best time for your circumstances to refinance away from your current lender.
