Proposed changes to negative gearing will have an impact on borrowers borrowing capacity going forward. Although not set in concrete, Lenders have already reacted by scaling down their policy on negative gearing advantages. Interesting article about continued branch closures, over 33% in the past 5 years. I see this as a result of lower customer demand for face-to-face banking services as technology and payments services advance and banks seeing the advantage of originating mortgages through the broker channel which now amount to around 75% of all home loans.
