Raregold Investments, an agro-hospitality business located in Glen Forest, Harare, is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Agronomist.
Requirements
• A degree or diploma in Agronomy, Crop Science, Horticulture, or a related agricultural field.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in crop production and farm management.
• Practical knowledge of greenhouse and open-field crop production.
• Experience in growing vegetables and other horticultural crops, including cabbage, sweet corn, green maize, broccoli, and other brassicas.
• Knowledge of irrigation systems, soil fertility management, pest and disease control, and fertiliser application.
• Ability to develop crop production plans, prepare budgets, monitor yields, and control production costs.
• Strong leadership, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily crop production activities.
• Develop and implement planting schedules and crop rotation plans.
• Monitor crop growth, identify pests and diseases, and recommend appropriate control measures.
• Manage irrigation, fertilisation, and soil fertility programmes.
• Prepare farm production budgets and monitor expenditure.
• Supervise farm workers and ensure adherence to agricultural best practices.
• Monitor crop yields, quality, and productivity to maximise farm profitability.
• Maintain accurate records of inputs, production, harvesting, and sales.
• Ensure compliance with relevant agricultural, environmental, and workplace safety standards.
