The Theology of the Bridge

For years, I’ve been haunted by a question:

How does a fractured people find the strength to stop hating? Politics can stop a war, but it cannot start a healing.

My new book, "The Altar of the Accord," is my attempt to document the spiritual statecraft that saved Zimbabwe's soul. It’s the story of Theological Diplomacy. While the nation was divided, a "Plain Vision" was being written in the massive gospel tents of Bulawayo. I spent years researching the work of Apostle Andrew Wutawunashe and Pastor B. I. Nkomo—a Shona prophet and an Ndebele sentinel who decided that the Kingdom of God was more real than the borders of tribalism.

History has a way of leaving out the most important details.

Who is a Zimbabwean? (Chapter 3: Citizenship)

Today we're talking about identity. Being a Zimbabwean citizen isn't just about where you live; it’s about a legal bond that the State must respect, no matter where you are in the world.

The Big Three: How do you become a citizen?

- By Birth: If you (or one of your parents or grandparents) were born in Zimbabwe.

- By Descent: If you were born outside Zimbabwe, but your parent or grandparent was a citizen.

- By Registration: For those who have lived in Zimbabwe for a long time or are married to a citizen.

The Game Changer: Dual Citizenship

Did you know? Under the 2013 Constitution, dual citizenship is a right for all citizens by birth. If you were born in Zimbabwe, you don't lose your Zimbabwean identity just because you acquired a passport elsewhere. You are still "one of us."

Your Rights as a Citizen (Section 35):

- You are entitled to the protection of the State, wherever you are in the world.

- You have the right to passports and birth certificates.

- You have a duty to be loyal to Zimbabwe and respect its ideals.

Whether you are in Harare, Bulawayo, London, or Johannesburg—Chapter 3 says you belong.

Are you or your family in the Diaspora? How does it feel knowing the Constitution protects your identity even from across the border? 👇

The Nation-Building Checklist

What is the Government’s "To-Do" List? (Chapter 2)

We know the Constitution is the supreme law, but what is it actually trying to achieve?

Chapter 2 of our Constitution lists the National Objectives. These are the goals that guide every minister, every council, and every government department.

The Big "To-Do" List Includes:

✅ Good Governance: Promoting honesty and fighting corruption (Section 9).
✅ Empowerment: Creating jobs and economically empowering Zimbabweans (Section 14).
✅ Food Security: Ensuring everyone has enough to eat (Section 15).
✅ Gender Balance: Making sure women have equal opportunities in all spheres (Section 17).
✅ Youth & Children: Protecting the rights of the next generation to education and training (Sections 19 & 20).

The Reality Check:

Section 8 says the State must take "all practical measures" to achieve these. While these are objectives (goals) rather than immediate rights you can sue for today, they serve as the standard by which we measure our progress as a nation.

When a new law is made, we should ask: "Does this help us meet our National Objectives?"

Which of these objectives do you think is the most urgent for Zimbabwe right now? Let’s talk in the comments! 👇

The Rulebook for Everyone

Image Suggestion: A clean, authoritative graphic showing a scale of justice balanced with a book (the Constitution) on one side and various symbols of power (a gavel, a government building) on the other, indicating they are equal or subordinate to the book.

Who is the Real Boss? (Section 2: Supremacy)

Yesterday we learned that power starts with "We the People." But how do we make sure that power isn't abused?

Section 2: Supremacy of the Constitution.

This is the most important "rule" in the book. It says:

1. The Constitution is the Supreme Law: This means no other law, no custom, and no government action can go against it. If a law is passed that contradicts the Constitution, that law is invalid.
2. It Binds Everyone: From the President and Parliament to the police and every single citizen—everyone must follow the obligations set out in this document.

The Government’s Big Obligation:

The Constitution doesn't just give the State power; it forces the State to protect your rights. Under Section 2, the State and all its agencies must fulfill their duties. They don't have a choice—it’s a legal requirement.

Why does this matter? Because it means the law is a shield. If you feel a policy is unfair or unconstitutional, the Constitution gives you the ground to stand on and say, "This is not according to our Supreme Law."

The Constitution is the boss of the bosses!

📢 Unpacking the Zimbabwean Constitution! 📢

Ever wondered what our Constitution really says, beyond the headlines? Let's dive in! 🇿🇼

Today, we're starting right at the beginning – the Preamble. This isn't just fancy legal talk; it's our nation's promise, etched in law. It starts with the most powerful words: "We the People of Zimbabwe."

Why is this so important? Because it declares that the power to build our nation, to shape its future, ultimately rests with us – all of us, united in our rich diversity. It speaks of honouring our liberation struggle and committing to a democratic society founded on justice, equality, and respect for human rights.

It’s our collective pledge for a better Zimbabwe. Every law, every government action, every individual's right traces back to this foundational promise.

When a country’s currency collapses, where does its hope go? In Zimbabwe, the answer is often found not in the halls of government, but under the brightly lit, air-conditioned roofs of its fastest-growing mega-churches.

Zimbabwe is a nation defined by a paradox: immense natural and human wealth crippled by systemic instability. Why, after decades of sacrifice, does the national promise remain consistently out of reach?
