SIRDC Welcome to the Scientific and Industrial Research and Development Centre (SIRDC), Zimbabwe’s Technology Centre.

Established in 1993 by an Act of Parliament, SIRDC provides technological solutions for sustainable development through reduction to practice of developed products and processes. As a consequence of this thrust SIRDC has commercialised some of its products through Sirtech Investments (Pvt) Ltd. SIRDC comprises twelve institutes whose activities can be grouped broadly to cover biotechnology, electr

onics, energy technology, environment and remote sensing, building construction, material science, metallurgy, information and communication technology, and metrology. The specific institutes are:

SIRDC received special recognition at the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Week 2026 in Masvingo for their Digital Performance Monitoring and Evaluation System that they showcased.

The system generated a lot of interest from Ministries, Departments and Agencies, private sector and development partners who were represented during the workshop.

SIRDC Team led by Mrs Gladys G. Mudyahoto, Executive Director Finance and Adminstration, won an award for the Best Digital Performance Monitoring and Evaluation System at the exhibition held during the MEL Week. The system automates and simplifies perfomance monitoring, enabling real time data collection, perfomance reporting and enhanced decision making.

The award was presented by the Vice President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Honourable Vice President Dr Kembo C. D. Mohadi, during the official opening of MEL Week 2026.
