This week, we spotlight Mrs. Patience Mashaire Marwiro, Managing Director of Emeritus International Reinsurance Company Botswana, a distinguished insurance executive whose leadership has made a lasting impact on the insurance and reinsurance industry across Southern Africa.
With over 25 years of industry experience, including more than 20 years in executive leadership, Patience has built expertise in reinsurance, underwriting, operations, risk management, compliance, and strategic business leadership. She established Emeritus Botswana in 2010 and was promoted in 2023 to lead Emeritus International Reinsurance Company Botswana, where she continues to drive regional growth and operational excellence.
A Chartered Insurer, Fellow of the Insurance Institute of South Africa (FIISA), and holder of an MBA, MSc in Risk Management and Insurance, and ACII, she is widely respected for her technical expertise and strategic vision. She also serves as Vice President of the Insurance Institute of Botswana (IIB) and is a member of the Insurance Institute of Zimbabwe (IIZ) Academic Committee, contributing to the development of insurance professionals across the region.
A sought-after speaker at regional conferences, Patience actively supports industry advancement through organisations such as OESAI, AIO, and the Botswana Short-Term Insurance Underwriters Association. Beyond her professional achievements, she is passionate about mentoring and empowering young professionals, supporting charitable causes, and lives by strong Christian values.
