Doing Horticulture the Right Way

Since its establishment in 2000, Zambezi Horticulture Producers Association (ZAHOPA-4RA) has been the cornerstone bringing together its community of Smallholder Farmers both in urban and rural Zambezi region. Our remarkable resources, reliable support and commitment to go above and beyond are unparalleled, and keep our smallholder farmers growing every day. Our Ma

Our basic obligation as an association is to represent horticulture farmers, especially Smallholder farmers in rural Zambezi, in order to ensure their participation in development actions in the horticulture sector. Representation of our farmers’ participation in policy formulation and implementation is also clearly marked my attendance as Executive Chair to three Namibian Horticulture Advisory Committee (NHAC) meetings with the Namibian Agronomic Board, an institution mandated by Act of Parliament to develop the horticulture industry in Namibia. It is also thoughtful to remark that as part of our obligation, ZAHOPA-4RA had since beginning 2018 given special attention to two substantial components namely: Unlocking Access to Sustainable Markets and Supplies and Access to Funding for our smallholder farmers, especially the youth and women.

A wonderful initiative indeed.

The La Cortina Investments Maize Production Training that took place on the 5th of September 2025 was a success.

The attendance was close to 30 farmers. Among these was the Honorable Dorothy Maretha Kabula, Governor of the mighty Zambezi region.

Among invited stakeholders, we had Mr. Rodrick Sipho Maswabi , the Chief Agricultural Scientific Officer from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform, Mr. Rodney Kasungo, the Agronomy Development Officer from Namibian Agronomic Board - NAB and Mr. Max Simfukwe, the Managing Director of Nelmad Trading.

We at La Cortina Investmentscc thank all the stakeholders and farmers for coming through. Above all else, we thank Honorable Dorothy Maretha Kabula, our Governor for her willingness to learn from her children. She exhibited and example that we all need to learn and we can do so from anyone.
