The future of global markets is increasingly being shaped by the influence and strategic deployment of sovereign growth funds, signaling a transformative phase where countries need to create comprehensive plans or drafts that elucidate how they can effectively position themselves within the intricate geopolitical landscape and evolving global financial markets. This is particularly pertinent as we transition into a new era marked by significant digital transformation, the burgeoning role of artificial intelligence, and the strategic pursuit of solvent wealth allocation. The aim is not only to establish long-term stability and sustainability but also to safeguard and enhance national wealth. These ambitions are becoming more critical in the coming years, as highlighted in a recent Bloomberg interview conducted by SWF expert Winston Ma, CFA Esq.. During the discussion, it was underscored how the United States is working toward achieving unconventional sovereign wealth objectives rooted in its national strategic goals. Such initiatives emphasize the necessity for forward-thinking approaches to manage and leverage resources effectively in order to maintain financial sovereignty and ensure prosperity. More insight into this strategic direction can be gleaned from the interview linked below.

We are proud to share the Zambezi Capital 2024-2025 Impact Report, which serves as a testament to our commitment not only to participate in the capital market but also to actively build an inclusive, innovative, and sustainable financial ecosystem for Zambia. This report marks a milestone in our journey and details our alignment with the core of Zambia's Capital Markets Master Plan (CMMP). Our strategy is rooted in creating tangible value, and we are thrilled to share our progress with you.

A key objective of the CMMP is to broaden market participation. Our WealthWise 101 financial literacy program reached 73 participants, marking our first step towards our 10-year goal of empowering 10,000 individuals through digital channels.

The CMMP also calls for a vibrant market with innovative products. Our team has been at the forefront of this, developing three draft concepts for critical and impact-aligned ETFs, critical for Zambia’s capital market development. We are proactively engaging with regulators like the SEC in Zambia and NAMFISA in Namibia to bring impactful innovations to market. Our commitment to innovation has been recognized externally, among the Top 15 Fintechs in the IBP Southern African Fintech Challenge 2023, powered by the World Bank Group.

A robust market requires deep insights and skilled professionals. To this end, our team has published 16 insight articles and 4 analytical reports to shed light on evolving trends and opportunities. We are also building capacity for the next generation of asset management, having equipped 30 women professionals in ESG technology (Geospatial and AI) in collaboration with Women Leaders for Climate Action (WLCA). To unlock new investment potential, we have leveraged geospatial technology across 4 of 6 key economic sectors—finance, agriculture, mining, and energy.

This is when our real work has just begun since our incorporation in 2021. As we look to the future, our focus is on ramping up an Impact-aligned AUM with a clear roadmap. This includes deepening our support for the Private Equity Market and scaling our Financial Literacy Program to support participation in the Public Equity and Fixed Income Markets. Concurrently, we are working towards securing our advisory licenses by 2026 and a Dealer's license by 2028, paving the way for the launch of our first institutional products by 2026 and retail products by 2028.

We believe in the power of collaboration and have forged a few partnerships to amplify our efforts and impact in the coming years. We invite all partners, stakeholders, and the broader global community to see our Impact Report and join us in shaping a prosperous future for Zambia.

We are deeply inspired by the power of data—not just as a tool for analysis, but as a force for good and systems-level change.

That’s why participating in this year’s Impact Capital Africa (ICA) Zambia 2025 was so exciting for our growth — the forum was a powerful reminder of how data, design, and dialogue can drive collaborative action for real impact.

One standout moment for us was visiting the TMP "booth"—an advisory firm supporting governments and investors in navigating environmental, social, and security risks. Their climate risk heat maps echoed the kind of geospatial work we’re a utilizing, demonstrated during our recent workshop with Women Leaders for Climate Action (WLCA) on leveraging tech for ESG goals to address Zambia’s pressing socio-environmental challenges.

It was also energizing to connect with fellow data enthusiasts from Data for Change, whose civic-minded approach to data-driven transformation strongly aligns with our work. Hence, was excited to extend invitation for potential collaboration—a drive that reflects one of our core takeaways from ICA 2025: that collaboration will be essential to accelerating impact. This connection was a direct outcome of that spirit.

Which brings us to the Co-Labs—ICA’s special breakout sessions designed as open, vibrant spaces for exchange. One Co-Lab we especially appreciated focused on the circular economy, where materials reuse and system redesign took center stage. For instance, one discussion explored recycling industrial waste like used oil and HDPE from mining into value-added products, such as lubricants and reusable packaging—directly addressing Zambia’s twin challenges of industrial waste and limited local value retention.

Another highlight was the exploration of how electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure could be made more viable through battery reuse and battery-as-a-service models, especially for two-wheeler EVs. This approach can significantly reduce EV costs, range anxiety, and downtime—critical barriers to adoption in developing markets like Zambia as part of the broader energy transition.

At its core, our key takeaway from ICA Zambia 2025—and especially from the dynamic Co-Labs—was clear: this wasn’t just a platform for sharing ideas, but a space where new thinking emerged, systems were reimagined, and collaboration proved to be the key driver of meaningful progress. For us , the event reinforced our belief that when data is combined with design and dialogue, it unlocks the kind of innovation and collaborative opportunities that can truly drive impact—for communities, industries, and the planet.
