Ministry of Finance has increased the fee for money lender License from K3,000 to K10,000 effective 1 January 2022. The receipt from M*F is part of the documents to be submitted to Magistrate Court for renewal of Money lender certificate.

We noticed many people want to start money lending business but do not know where to start from. Here is now we started;
1) Our starting point was PACRA - We registered as limited Company. Visit their offices, they're more helpful. See revised rates on PACRA website
2) With the certificate from PACRA we went to register with Magistrate Court. The court advised the documents to submit and other steps to follow before the registration is finalized. As limited Company, we had to pay a lawyer to represent us. Paying any individual lawyer is cheaper than paying a firm. Fee for registration is K187
3) Our last step was Ministry of Finance. Its law for all money lending firms or individuals to register with M*F. You need court certificate and finger prints to register at M*F, we paid K3,000.
