Lusaka Securities Exchange Plc An efficient, orderly, and transparent market place where shares and bonds have been traded since 1994.

The formation of the Exchange is part of the government's economic reform programme aimed at developing the financial and capital market in order to support and enhance private sector initiative. The Lusaka Securities Exchange is also expected to attract foreign portfolio investment through recognition of Zambia and the region as an emerging capital market with potentially high investment returns.

Another important role of the Exchange is to facilitate the divestiture of Government ownership in parastatals and realisation of the objectives of creating a broad and wide shareholding ownership by the citizenry via a fair and transparent process. The Lusaka Securities Exchange has been set up as a modern stock exchange based on the most current international standards and practices.

Under the theme "Celebrating Governance Excellence: Reflecting on Corporate Stewardship and Compliance in 2025," we welcomed listed company leadership, regulators, institutional investors, brokers and governance practitioners to reflect on the state of corporate governance in Zambia's capital market and on the role of disclosure, integrity and timely communication in sustaining investor confidence.

The tone was set early:
โžก๏ธ Our CEO, Mr. Nicholas Kabaso, reminded us that "strong corporate governance lies at the heart of credible, resilient, and investor-attractive capital markets."
โžก๏ธ Delivering the opening remarks on behalf of our LuSE Board Chairperson, Director Choongo Chibawe put it plainly: "Regulation alone does not build markets. Trust does. Dialogue does. Collaboration and a shared vision do."
โžก๏ธ And in closing, our Lusaka Clearing and Settlement Agency (LCSA) Chairperson, Mr. Maulu Hamunjele, affirmed that "strong corporate governance and sustainability practices remain essential to building resilient institutions and deepening our capital market."
