Zambia Bata Shoe Company Plc (BATA) announced on 05 June 2026 that director Michael Wyatt resigned effective 30 April 2026. The company appointed John Murathe Njorogre as his replacement, who holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Nairobi and is a certified Public Accountant with over 20 years of experience in various Finance Director roles across Bata operations in Uganda, Botswana, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe since 2007.

On 1st June 2026, ZCCM Investments Holdings PLC entered into a transaction with Wonderful Group Services Ltd to develop a 2 x 300MW thermal power plant in Zambia through special purpose vehicle Ever Great Energy Company Limited, with ZCCM-IH acquiring a 30% stake for USD 54.2 million (ZMW 1.023 billion) representing 4.24% of its market capitalisation. The USD 451.7 million project includes establishing a coal mine in Southern Province and constructing a coal-fired thermal power plant in Sinazongwe District with Ziquan Group as the EPC contractor, with plans to double capacity to 600MW within five years. The project aims to address Zambia's baseload generation deficit of approximately 1,400MW and reduce reliance on hydroelectric power while supporting energy requirements for ZCCM-IH's mining portfolio and national copper production targets of 3 million tonnes per annum. Pro forma financial metrics show EPS improving to ZMW 0.88 from ZMW (5.30) with a 16.63% change, while NAV per share decreases marginally by 0.73% to ZMW 323.09.
