Those are the kinds of conversations every founder hopes to have.

On 30 July, entrepreneurs supported by the National Technology Business Centre (NTBC) pitched their businesses to members of the Zambia Business Angels Network (ZBAN); not just to present their ideas, but to defend them, refine them, and open the door to investment.

Every question from an investor challenged the founders to think bigger. Every discussion after the pitches created opportunities for mentorship, partnerships, and potential investment.

Building a thriving startup ecosystem isn't just about great entrepreneurs. It's about creating spaces where founders and investors can engage openly, exchange ideas, and build trust.

That's exactly what this event was about.

We're proud to have partnered with the National Technology Business Centre to bring together ambitious entrepreneurs and Zambia's angel investment community, and we're excited to see where these conversations lead.

Investor readiness training session with ADRA Zambia

Yesterday, we officially kicked off the first Investor Readiness Information Session under our partnership with ADRA Zambia through the Young and Empowered Project (YEP) at AfricaWorks Zambia.

The session marked the beginning of an exciting journey that will support six Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) in strengthening their businesses, becoming investment-ready, and unlocking opportunities for sustainable growth.

Through this collaboration, ZBAN will deliver investor readiness training, provide mentorship and coaching, connect participants to strategic ecosystem partners, and increase their understanding of financing opportunities, including angel investment, catalytic capital, grants, and blended finance.

On 2nd July 2026, the Zambia Business Angels Network (ZBAN), in collaboration with Avencion and the Africa Europe Digital Innovation Bridge (AEDIB) Building Investor Bridges (BIB) consortium, hosted the AEDIB BIB Investor & Startup Showcase at Lusaka.

The showcase marked the conclusion of the first-ever AEDIB Building Investor Bridges investor mission to Zambia, bringing together European investors, local angel investors, venture capital firms, development partners, ecosystem builders, and some of Zambia's most promising startups.

The afternoon featured:
A thought-provoking investor panel discussion on strengthening investment ecosystems and unlocking opportunities across Africa.

Startup pitches from innovative Zambian entrepreneurs showcasing scalable solutions across sectors including fintech, agritech, healthtech, digital technology, and the green economy.
