Despite the weaker demand for T-bills, cut-off yields remained largely stable across maturities. The 91-day, 182-day and 364-day tenors maintained their previous cut-off yields at 10.50%, 10.95% and 12.10%, respectively.

The 273-day tenor was the only exception, with its cut-off yield declining by 10 basis points from 11.10% to 11.00%. This indicates that the decline in demand did not result in upward pressure on T-bill yields during the auction.

According to Bloomberg, Zambia's local currency bonds have reaped about 37% in total returns year to date, second only to Colombia in the world. Overall, Zambia still enjoys decent appetite for its paper and offers the Central government a low cost of funding.

Board members don’t just shape strategy—they shape reputation.

The boardroom is no longer a private space. Today’s board decisions are scrutinized by shareholders, regulators, the media, employees, investors, and the public. In this environment, governance extends far beyond the board table.

While media engagement is often seen as the responsibility of the Board Chair, CEO or communications team, board members are custodians of an organization’s strategy, governance, and reputation.

A single post, press statement, interview or crisis response can build years of trust—or unravel it in minutes. This is why media training is no longer a luxury. It is an essential component of effective board leadership.

Strong governance is not only demonstrated through sound decision-making—it is reflected in how those decisions are communicated.

Prepared leaders inspire confidence. Media-ready boards build resilient organizations, safeguard trust, and create lasting value.

The question is no longer whether board members should be media-trained. It’s whether organizations can afford for them not to be. And for us in financial markets, communication is currency.
