Entrepreneurship is very very hard. But it's worth it.
I think the biggest secret successful entrepreneurs never tell prospective entrepreneurs is that attempting to go on your own in most cases is the hardest thing a person may ever attempt. There are just so many unknowns, too many risks and sacrifices. Yet it's only worth it if you succeed, or atleast learn enough to guarantee your success on other projects or other areas of your life.
Now I am not telling you this to discourage you from attempting, I actually do understand that it is to that effect why most successful business people don't highlight this point. But I also understand that business failure is one of the most painful events a person can endure, a great source of mental health issues leading people into destitution and giving up on life overall.
I believe demystifying business failure, by highlighting just how common it is, and that it feels the same for everyone may one day help someone realise that the pain they may be undergoing is but a common rite of passage.
The glamour of successful entrepreneurs can be very misleading. It paints a wrong picture, suggesting that once you start a business, you will be successful, making money, have fame, have loads of time for yourself and your family and achieve happiness through satisifaction.
What's hardly revealed is what goes on behind the scenes. The constant challenges that arise, the sleepless nights as you are looking out for the next pay cash injection, the anxiety of tomorrow being in your own hands. And the painful fact that you have to keep a straight face and your head high because you need to, thus everyone around you believing you are strong, that you have it easy.
More often than even I would love to admit, business feels like a runaway train. It's a roller coaster you must learn to accept and eventually enjoy. Because with time, the anxiety will turn into thrill and the wisdom of time will help you accept reality, the tolls of being the master of your own destiny.
Before you venture into entrepreneurship, remember you have to prepare for the long haul. Because the only way it becomes worth it if you manage to push through that impossible hard to your goals. But hold steadfast, keep a level head, try hard. It is worth it in the end. For you, for your loved ones, for the society. If you believe you have what it takes. I salute you. And I wish you luck... you need it.
