IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO THE POLICY HOLDER
1. Sum Insured
This is an important aspect and is your responsibility that it
is correctly recorded.
2. Cover
Make sure that the item is insured for the correct purpose
e.g. vehicle can be insured comprehensively, third party fire
& theft or third party only. Audio equipment, alloy wheels,
smash n grab, tow hitch, bull bars, canopy etc can be insured
separately as specified accessories.
3. Security
The policy contract clearly states the minimum requirements, e.g. burglar proofing, security gates, linked alarm or VESA immobilizers, tracking devices, etc. Please ensure that you prescribe to these requirements. NB.: Tracking devices in cars should be tested at least once in six months and proof of installation sent to your Broker.
4. Change of Address
This is vital, change of address must be forwarded immediately as well as security and overnight parking facilities at the address.
5. Valuation certificates
Must be forwarded when certain items are placed on cover or any item is valued at R10 000 or more under all risks section and R25 000 or more under house contents.
6. Claims
Claims must be reported within 30 days. If a third party is involved and you, as the insured, did not sustain loss or damage, the incident must still be reported. Report to the SAPS within 24 hours.
7. Driver
It is of utmost importance that the insurer knows who the regular driver is and where the vehicle is kept overnight but anyone may drive your vehicle, with your permission, as long as they have a valid driver’s license and are aware of the excess implications in the event of a claim.
8. Roadworthy
All vehicles must be in a roadworthy condition, as stipulated by the authorities.
9. Vehicle ownership
Only vehicles registered in your/your spouse or Company name can be insured on your policy or others residing with you, on a personal policy.
10. Usage
Vehicles can be used for business or private use and must be insured accordingly.
11. Excess
This is the first amount payable in the event of a loss. In certain instances, the insured can opt for a voluntary excess which will be payable up and above the standard excess and thus reducing the monthly premium.
12. Cellular phones, Laptops, Ipads and Camera’s etc
Must be insured separately (all risks) and we must be informed when you upgrade or replace the phone. We will require their make, model, serial and IMEI number (for cell phones). Except in the case where you have an Executive policy.
13. General
Optional Extra’s: Car hire and excess waiver cover is available under the Motor section. Accidental, Mechanical & electrical breakdown cover is available under the House Contents section and Accidental Damage to Machinery is available under the Building section. Except in the case of an Executive Policy. Public liability can be extended to R10,000,000 and Personal Accident cover and Legal Costs and Expenses cover is also available
