For over 20 years, Scottfin Insurance Brokers FSP No. 3468 has been recognised in the short-term insurance market as a brokerage of the highest standards and integrity, providing personal and professional service to its clients. George Baikie and David Gould founded Scottfin in 1994. George owns amongst others, a chain of vehicle dealerships, and Scottfin was initially established to provide insurance solutions to clients who bought vehicles. Scottfin subsequently became – and still is – South Africa’s leading independent insurance provider to the taxi industry, leading to our justifiable claim of being “the people’s broker”. While taxi insurance remains our big focus, we have broadened the scope of our offerings to include a wide range of personal and commercial short-term insurance solutions. Based on our areas of expertise, we are able to put together insurance packages that address the specific requirements of each of our clients.

At Scottfin we are passionate about supporting cancer awareness. Scottfin Insurance Brokers is seeking an experienced Commercial Underwriter to join our Scottburgh Branch within the Non-life Insurance industry.

This role is suited to a client-focused professional with strong Commercial and Personal Lines underwriting experience, excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high standards of client service. The successful candidate should be able to work effectively under pressure, operate as part of a team and embrace Treating Customers Fairly principles.

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀:
• Manage the overall Commercial underwriting process
• Attend to internal and external queries timeously
• Follow through on leads
• Process renewals and send relevant documentation to clients
• Provide general reporting and client servicing

𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗺 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀:
• Minimum NQF4 qualification and FAIS compliant
• Regulatory Exam – Representative (RE5)
• Minimum 3 years' Commercial and Personal Lines underwriting experience
• Registered Representative (not under supervision) for Sub-Categories 1.2 Personal Lines Insurance and 1.6 Commercial Lines Insurance
• Matric certificate
• Up-to-date CPD hours for previous and current FSCA cycles
• Up-to-date Class of Business training for Personal and Commercial Lines
• Product Specific Training
• Meet all Fit and Proper Criteria

𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
• Computer literacy (MS Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)
• Strong clerical and administrative skills
• Effective time management
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Integrity and professional conduct
• Strong Commercial Insurance technical skills
• Attention to detail
