📢Due to the thousands protested in Mozambique’s capital and security forces responded by firing tear gas and rubber bullets, as weeks of post-election unrest continued in the southern African country. The protests were sparked by a vote last month that will keep the ruling party in power for more than half-century amid allegations of rigging.
Opposition parties and many citizens have rejected the results of October 2024 presidential election as fraudulent and growing protests in the capital, Maputo and other cities have been met by deadly force from police.
The territorial limit on Commercial Lines is currently not extended to automatically include Mozambique and Personal Lines includes Mozambique in the territories.In addition to this, Riot and Strike cover is Optional cover for countries outside RSA and Namibia.
RSA & Namibia are excluded because this cover is dealt with via SASRIA and NASRIA.
Due to the current disturbances in Mozambique following the election result announcement all new cover requests for riot and strike extension as well as requests to extend cover to Mozambique in the territorial limits will be suspended until further notice.
Therefore, all new cover requests for riot and strike extension and requests to extend cover to Mozambique in the territorial limits will be suspended until further notice. The suspension includes requests for Border letters to Mozambique on existing policies with cover for Riot and Strike, please exclude the cover until further notice. Please note the suspension in the letters.
The suspension applies to Personal, FlexiFlite, Farmers and Commercial Lines.”
