We have been doing this since 2007 and in this time gained real track record and created meaningful social impact with more than 2 500 jobs to date. Edge Growth is black owned and a Level 2 Enterprise & Supplier Development Beneficiary, with a 125% B-BBEE procurement recognition level. Our services focus on three distinct areas:

Founded by husband-and-wife duo Kriban and Reneka Govender, has gone from assembling batteries in a garage to building South Africa’s first explosion-proof lithium battery for coal mining.

Now, this 100% Black-owned, 50% Black Women-owned manufacturer has secured investment from the Abadali Fund, unlocking the next phase of growth: scaling production, creating jobs, and driving South Africa’s green economy transition.

Nine tech SMEs. One big stage. Endless possibilities.

The Sanlam Accelerator Pitch Event was proudly hosted in partnership with ASISA ESD, showcasing the culmination of months of intensive development support for nine innovative tech SMEs.

These bold tech SMEs stepped up to share the journeys they have been on; months of refining their value propositions, sharpening commercial readiness, and gearing up for scale. Watching them pitch to industry experts and stakeholders was a reminder of the perseverance driving South Africa’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

A highlight? The panel with Cheslyn Jacobs (GoTyme Bank) and Vutlhari “Donald” Valoyi (Zulzi). Hearing directly from leaders who have built and scaled high-growth businesses brought the kind of real-world insight that early-stage founders can’t get from textbooks: lessons on product-market fit, scaling challenges, and innovating under constraint.
