We are incredibly proud to celebrate the latest achievement of our sponsored athlete, Ethan “The Villain” Peters, following an outstanding performance in the ring.

Ethan secured a remarkable 27-second knockout victory at Emperors Palace, taking his professional record to four wins, all by knockout. The performance could go down as the quickest knockout in South African heavyweight boxing history.

At just 19 years old, Ethan continues to demonstrate the dedication, discipline and determination that are driving his rise in professional boxing.

As part of our Women’s Month celebrations, we took the opportunity to celebrate the women of HLB CBS Group South Africa with an afternoon of pizza, conversation and inspiration.

We were privileged to be joined by professional boxers Ellen “The Tigress” Simwaka and Monica “Savage” Mkandla, who shared their personal journeys and experiences with our team.

Our conversation touched on the achievements they are most proud of, moments that tested their strength, finding confidence when facing difficult challenges, and the importance of getting back up after a setback.

Their stories offered valuable insights into resilience, determination and the courage it takes to keep moving forward, both in the ring and in life.

It was a wonderful afternoon spent celebrating the women in our firm, connecting with one another and recognising the strength, talent and contribution of the women who form such an important part of our team.

The HLB Asia Pacific & Emerging Markets Conference 2026 brought together colleagues, clients and industry leaders from across the global HLB network in Ho Chi Minh City for several days of shared insight, discussion and connection.

Henico Schalekamp, Group Chief Executive Officer; Lauren Patlansky, Head China/Africa Business; and Dr Christopher Whittle, Partner: ESG and Risk Advisory, represented our firm at the conference, contributing to conversations around international business, cross-border investment, resilient supply chains and sustainability.

Lauren shared insights on global trade, cross-border investment and changing supply chains, while Christopher moderated a discussion on the integration of ESG considerations into supply chains and future business growth.

Beyond the formal programme, the conference provided an important opportunity to strengthen relationships across the network, exchange perspectives with colleagues from different markets and continue building the connections that support effective international collaboration.
