The Jetour T1 and T2 look built for family adventures — but their payload figures tell a very different story.

The T2 carries only around 375 kg, while some T1 derivatives are closer to 300 kg.

And that includes people and luggage combined.

Four adults can almost completely use up the T2’s payload before the suitcases go in. In some T1 models, four adults may already put the vehicle over its nominal payload.

Compare that with vehicles like the Fortuner, Tank 300, Forester and Everest, which typically offer substantially more carrying capacity.

Why does it matter?

Because overloading can affect braking, tyres, suspension and stability — particularly on a long holiday journey. And while an overloaded vehicle does not automatically mean an insurance claim will be rejected, it can create an unnecessary complication if the excess weight contributed to an accident.

So before buying or loading up an SUV, ask one question that rarely appears in the advertising:

How much can it actually carry?

Big boot. Big SUV. Surprisingly small payload.
