PLANNED PROTEST MONDAY 20 MARCH 2022

We had a combined meeting with Honeydew SAPS, Security Companies, shopping centers, and other roleplayers today regarding the planned strike taking place on Monday, 20 March 2023.

We can confirm that the EFF has given a letter to the station stating their intentions to march on Monday. They will meet at Marina Road at 7am and then proceed to Beyers Naude. From there, they will march on Beyers Naude past the Honeydew SAPS and turn left into Honeydew Road. At the circle, they will go left again down Boundry road till they reach Jackal Creek shopping center. From here, they will take busses to their destination, which is possibly the CBD for the bigger march.

We have also been made aware of a possible march in Ruimsig on Hendrik Potgieter starting in Ruimsig to Peacock informal settlement. We will provide more details of this once it becomes available.

The Honeydew CPF is and will be in constant communication with Honeydew SAPS management over the next few days to ensure correct updates are passed on to residents.

If you are planning on using any of the above-mentioned routes on Monday, then please take precautions or avoid it in totality.

*CRIME ALERT*

New CRIME Trend.

Uber Eats and Mr Delivery motorbike drivers is followed by criminals when delivering your order at your property. As you go outside to collect your order, the criminals exit their vehicle and hold you up at gunpoint taking any valuables you have on you. They also take away the keys from the Uber / Mr Deliery driver and steal his cell phone. The Victim being the Property Owner or family member is then abducted by the criminals and dropped off blocks away after being robbed of their wallet cell phone etc.

Please remain alert when leaving the safety of your home to collect food or other deliveries and ensure there are no other vehicles in the vicinity but only the vehicle or motorbike delivering the items you ordered.

Carry your portable panic button with you and press if you have any concerns... Please take extra precautions, be observant.. Take care.

Kindly forward this message to all your community groups, friends, family & colleagues without editing the content in any way please.

We are approaching the "silly season" and crime is increasing at an alarming rate.

Please put the following away after use as it gets stolen easily by opportunistic criminals:

● TV & sound systems in Lapa's
● Garden furniture
● Gardening tools
● Hose pipes
● Children's toys
● Bicycles & other such toys

Please secure:

● Gate motors
● Swimmingpool pumps
● Borehole pumps
● Spare wheels
● Flower pots & garden ornaments
● Empty properties

Please:

● Keep scrap metal & other unused material out of sight
● Keep gates & doors locked
● Secure open windows
● Keep your dogs safe, dogs get poisoned

Please:

● Do not go outside at night if you hear a noise or for any other reason, never, rather call your local CPF, a neighbour or your security company. If you open your door/gate your family is at great risk.
● Ask a trustworthy person to watch your property & pets if you go away on holiday & ensure they have all emergency contact numbers

Please:

● Keep emergency numbers at hand & make sure your family knows exactly who to call in case of an emergency.
● Report all crime, we need to know & to warn others!
● Be villigent when shopping
● Be villigent when at an ATM
● Don't withdraw or keep large amounts of cash on you, rather use your bank card when shopping. Your money is safe in the bank
● Be villigent when leaving & returning home
● Keep your cellphone safe
● Don't leave valuables in your motor vehicle
● Be aware of your surroundings at all times!

As seasonal crime stats increase we urge resident to take the required precautions:

1. Check all security measures for weakness and repair. Especially - Gates, motors, fences (electric and barbed wire), locks, keys, burglar bars.

2. Insure your valuables. 🏅 Consider a safe deposit box. Cloud backup phones.
Keep copies of passcodes/usernames/passwords written in a well hidden and safe place so that a stolen device can be remotely wiped, tracked and you can get your data back quickly.

3. Check alarms, beams and panic buttons. Make sure they are in good working order and in the right place.

4. Install a panic app on your phones. 🤳

5. Change *KEYPAD CODES* after *each* activation and response from your alarm company. Inform your response company.

6. Alert security to anything suspicious. 🚓

7. *Never disable* your alarm, beams or fence at night nor assume a fault. 🚨
Criminals might be testing the response.

8. Leave jewelry, watches and devices at home when you exercise or shop 💍

9. Last year there was a major problem with power being switched off at the external distribution boxes of residents. Check if you can secure yours.
