A Tribute to the founders of Dignity Life Administrators...

Today, as we celebrate Dignity Life Administrators’ 25th birthday, we would like to pause and honour two remarkable men: Hannes Watson and the late Johann Buys – the visionaries, risk-takers, and, let’s be honest, occasional miracle-workers who started this company 25 years ago… quite literally from nothing. Back then, “head office” was a dining room table, and “corporate resources” may have included a kettle, some whisky late at night, excel spreadsheets, two pens and a lot of faith.

What began as a dream has grown into a business built on integrity, trust, enthusiasm, passion, and above all, dignity. Through every trial and tribulation, Hannes and Johann stood side by side, trusting each other, refusing to give up, and proving that true leadership is not about titles, but about resilience, faith, and heart.

From day one, they valued people above profit. They built not just a business, but a family culture – one we are still proud of today. They nurtured relationships with our underwriters Assupol, and long-standing allies such as the PSA Union and Guidesure, always putting clients first.

For every family that walked through our doors in times of loss or need, they offered comfort, trust, and unwavering service. That is their legacy: a company that treats every client with dignity, just as its name promises.

And while they were always serious about serving clients with excellence, let’s not forget: it takes a sharp sense of humour to keep going when the fax machine (more recent times emails 😅)refuses to cooperate, “just one more” system upgrade takes five hours, and sheer grit and resilience to face hurdles that seem impossible to cross.

So today, from the bottom of our hearts, we salute you both. Without your hard work, dedication, and integrity, none of us would have had the privilege of being part of this phenomenal company.

Here’s to 25 years of building a legacy – and to the next 25 years of Dignity Life Administrators continuing to make a difference, one client at a time.
