In today’s trade landscape, the “Liberation Day” tariffs introduced by former President Donald Trump have fundamentally shifted global trade costs. A 10% baseline tariff on most imports took effect in April, while targeted rates as high as 145% have been imposed on goods from China and other key trading partners . Though a U.S. Court ruling temporarily struck down many of these tariffs under IEEPA, sector-specific duties—especially on steel, autos, and aluminum—remain in force .
