''PPPs are not about us and them. They are about partnership."

That was one of the strongest messages to emerge from the PPP Workshop hosted by Standard Bank and Cresco in Livingstone, Zambia.

Bringing together lenders, advisors, public sector representatives and industry stakeholders, the event created an open platform to unpack the challenges, opportunities and practical requirements involved in delivering successful PPP projects.

From policy frameworks and risk allocation to affordability, value-for-money considerations and achieving financial close, the discussions highlighted the importance of alignment between all parties involved.

Most importantly, there was a shared recognition that accelerating infrastructure delivery across Africa requires collaboration, transparency and a willingness to understand perspectives from both sides of the table.

Cresco is pleased to be attending the DEVAC HYDROGEN-H INDABA 2026, taking place on 29-30 September at the Radisson Blu Gautrain Hotel in Johannesburg.

This year’s theme, “Delivering Africa’s Hydrogen Economy,” moves the conversation beyond national strategies and ambitions towards the practical realities of developing bankable projects, unlocking investment and building the infrastructure and partnerships needed to scale Africa’s hydrogen economy.

Conrad Hefer, will be speaking at the event, contributing to the conversation around the opportunities and challenges shaping Africa’s emerging hydrogen sector.

The INDABA will bring together government leaders, investors, project developers, technology innovators, industrial off-takers, utilities, financiers and other key stakeholders from across the hydrogen value chain.

We look forward to connecting with industry leaders, sharing insights and discussing what it will take to turn Africa’s hydrogen ambitions into commercially viable projects.

🏐 We recently swapped spreadsheets for netballs and took our Cresco values onto the court.

🤝 Trust: Trusting your teammates, backing each other, and making the pass... because we quickly learned that running with the ball is frowned upon 😅

🙌 Collaboration: Just like in our projects, communication and teamwork made all the difference. Some of us may have communicated a little louder than others from the sidelines! 😂

⭐ Excellence: We brought our best effort, plenty of energy, and a healthy competitive spirit.

A huge shout-out to Netball South Africa as they represent South Africa at the Africa Netball Cup in Kenya. We'll leave the trophies to the professionals and cheer you on from the sidelines!

Building bankable infrastructure requires strong partnerships.

Standard Bank Corporate & Investment Banking, in partnership with Cresco, will be hosting the Regional Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Workshop in Livingstone, Zambia, from 15–17 September 2026.

Cresco’s Conrad Hefer and Francois Viljoen will be part of the panel facilitating the workshop, bringing together public and private sector leaders to share insights, explore best practices and identify opportunities to develop and finance bankable infrastructure projects across the region.
