COVD-19 update โ Will I be covered?
Ensuring peace of mind for you and your loved ones is of utmost importance and we would like to address queries surrounding the Coronavirus Covid-19 infection and what Sanlam covers.
Sanlam does not cover any specific virus infection, other than HIV, as a claimable event. However, Sanlam can confirm that it covers any claimable event in their living benefit product suite caused by this COVID-19 virus or any other virus or infective organism.
Under Sanlamโs Sickness benefit, the Official Disability Guidelines (ODG) will be used as per the product contractual requirements, to determine valid period of sick leave, including time required for quarantine as per medical doctor instruction.
Under the Severe Illness-, Impairment- and Disability benefits, the medical evidence provided against the claimable events irrespective of the cause that triggered the claimable event, will be assessed.
Remain vigilant and healthy by practicing safe hygiene habits
We would also like to take this opportunity to urge our clients to remain vigilant and healthy by practicing safe hygiene habits. The World Health Organisation encourages frequent hand washing and use of approved hand sanitisers. In addition, to cover your nose and mouth with a tissue, whilst coughing and sneezing and to discard these immediately. If there is a history of recent international travel and you have cold symptoms or if you have cold symptoms with a direct contact with someone affected with coronavirus, self-isolate and contact your treating medical practitioner as soon as possible.
Whilst the coronavirus is highly infectious, most individuals only have mild symptoms and by practicing safe hygiene habits, affected individuals can contain the spread.
