At Labour Insure, we know that a healthy, productive workforce starts with good mental health. On this World Mental Health Day, we’re reminded of how essential it is for employers to prioritize brain health in the workplace.
Dr. Daniel Amen, a renowned expert in brain health, emphasizes that when employees’ brains are healthy, they’re more resilient, focused, and able to handle stress. His research shows that a strong brain-health foundation can reduce absenteeism and improve productivity, which is why supporting your team’s mental well-being is not just a moral duty – it’s good business.
As an employer, here are 3 simple steps to look after the brain health of your employees:
1. Promote Mental Health Days 🧘♂️ – Giving employees time to recharge can prevent burnout and increase long-term productivity.
2. Create a Brain-Healthy Workplace 🌿 – Encouraging a calm, organized environment with natural light and greenery can reduce stress and improve focus.
3. Offer Mental Health Resources 📲 – Access to support like counseling or stress management workshops helps employees feel valued and supported.
Here are 3 things employees can do to look after themselves:
1. Take moments to intentionally rest by, doing some light stretching AND breathing exercises.
2. Get good sleep each night, by doing whatever is necessary for you to get good sleep. If you do not feel rested, look into doing a Non-sleep-deep-rest protocol (see YouTube about NSDR protocols)
3. Eat healthy. Stay away from processed food and foods that are high in preservatives.
At Labour Insure, we believe that investing in the mental health of your workforce is investing in your company’s future.
