Building a legacy: Is your family business protected for the next generation?

Heritage Month provides an opportunity to reflect not only on our cultural heritage, but also on the legacies we hope to leave behind for future generations. Many business owners pay for insurance but aren't sure what to do when an incident or loss occurs. Vandalism doesn't just damage property, it disrupts businesses, impacts employees, and creates unexpected costs.
Many business owners only discover the claims process after an incident occurs.
The claim starts long before the assessor arrives.
The evidence you collect in those first few hours can be crucial.

These are the first steps to take if your business suffers malicious damage to property:

Secure the scene
Report it to the police
Photograph everything
Keep proof of expenses
Contact us (your broker) immediately
Don't dispose of damaged items until advised
