Unlike certain professions where professional indemnity insurance is mandated by regulatory bodies, such as lawyers or architects, there is no universal legal requirement for builders to have PI Insurance in South Africa. However, this does not diminish its importance. Many construction contracts and projects may stipulate the necessity of PI Insurance as part of contractual obligations or industry standards.
