Dear Valued Client,
As the festive season approaches, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support throughout the year. To help keep you, your family, and your property safe over the holiday period, please take note of the following important tips and reminders:
________________________________________
🚗 Travel & Vehicle Safety
• If you are travelling, ensure your vehicle undergoes a full holiday safety check and is 100% roadworthy.
• If your vehicle is fitted with a tracking device, test it to confirm it is fully operational.
• Please note that car hire is limited to the cover in place on your policy.
• Due to current backlogs and delays in vehicle parts, we strongly recommend extending your car hire cover to 60 days.
• If travelling outside South Africa’s borders, ensure that you have the necessary cross-border insurance cover and letters of authority in place.
________________________________________
🏠 Home & Security Precautions
• Test all alarms, motion sensors, and electric fences. During load shedding, alarm power packs and batteries deplete quickly—ensure backup systems (inverters, etc.) are functional.
• Check with your alarm company if a mobile app is available to monitor low battery levels or alarm triggers.
• Unplug appliances and electronics to protect them from power surges while away or during load shedding.
• If you have a generator, inverter, or solar system, test the connections to prevent potential fire hazards. All electrical installations must be supported by a valid Certificate of Compliance (COC).
________________________________________
☀️ Solar / Inverter Systems
• A valid COC must be issued by the installer—failure to provide this will invalidate your insurance cover.
• Surge protection must be installed; without it, any surge-related damage will not be covered.
• Please provide full details of your system so it can be added to your insurance policy.
________________________________________

💎 Valuables & Personal Safety
• High-value items are common targets for criminals during the festive season. Stay alert and avoid wearing expensive jewellery or watches in public.
• Secure high-value items in a safe if the premises will be unattended.
________________________________________
🔥 Gas Safety at Home
Please take note of the following gas installation safety guidelines:
• Gas bottles must be installed at least 1 metre away from doors and windows.
• All copper pipes passing through walls must be sleeved.
• A Certificate of Conformity is required for all gas appliances and installations.
• Installations must comply with SABS standards.
• Only gas bottles under 19kg may be stored indoors.
• When using gas stoves, ensure adequate ventilation, keep flames at a safe height, and turn off the gas properly after use.
________________________________________
Wishing you a safe, relaxing, and joyful holiday season.
Thank you once again for your trust and support.
Warm regards,
