Who does what in South Africa's financial protection landscape?
National Treasury RSA sets the policy direction. The FSCA South Africa regulates the conduct of financial institutions. The Ombud Council exercises oversight over the ombud schemes — supporting efficiency, alignment and awareness across the system.
The ombud schemes themselves (the National Financial Ombud Scheme South Africa - NFO, the FAISOmbud, OPFA SA and the JSE Ombud) handle customer complaints. One coordinated system. One consumer-focused mandate.
