💪 What A Week in Dullstroom!

In a small village in Mpumalanga, something remarkable happened this week…

A community came together.

DDD and the local municipality joined forces — proving that when we work toward the same goal, we can achieve far more together than apart.

This week Dullstroom didn’t just repair potholes…

We tarred a section of Idube Road that has caused endless problems during the rainy season. 🚜🔥

For those who may not know — Dullstroom is one of the highest towns in South Africa and a regular training ground for international athletes who visit four times a year.

Idube Road is central to that training.
It is the hub where much of the athletes’ training takes place.
It links the town to multiple guest houses.
It is also the primary access road used daily by workers coming from Sakhelwe.

Infrastructure here isn’t just about convenience — it directly impacts tourism, local jobs, and the image of our town.

Work on Idube Road commenced Monday.

DDD:
• 6 permanent staff
• 5 casual staff

But the biggest challenge?
Keeping up with ALL the daily responsibilities while taking on a tar project.

And yet, the week looked like this:

✅ 100m of new tar laid on Idube Road
✅ 10+ potholes repaired in Janson Street
✅ 2km of verges cut along Tonteldoos Road to Sakhelwe
✅ Verges cut in the CBD and Lydenburg entrance
✅ Clean-up and grass cutting at the water tower, water supply station & sewerage plant
✅ Public waste bins emptied
✅ Litter control maintained
✅ Weekly kerbside recycling collection completed
✅ Parkrun route marker signs completed

In true small-town style, our town superintendent Norman arrived with a bakkie full of workers. Mixed teams were formed.

And what was accomplished was nothing short of unbelievable.

This is what’s possible when a community works together. 🇿🇦

Just get it done.
