Fauresmith 200, 2025. Final Results. Congratulations to all the riders who successfully completed the ride. To finish is to win! Mixed bag of emotions for Ber-Kaz - Jj and Bingo were unfortunately eliminated on Day 1 with a lameness - "it is what it is!"; however congratulations to all the Ber-Kaz bred horses that successfully completed the ride - Well done to Emma Van Zyl (BK Scarlett Jumanjison), Helga Liebenberg (Ber-Kaz Paco Rabanne) & Hannelie Coetzee (BK Russian Roulette). Safe travels to all - See you all again in 2026. Blessings......

50th Fauresmith 200, 2025. The long wait is over; the horses have been vetted, and riders and grooms are busy with their final preparations. Tomorrow sees the start of another nailbiting Fauries 200. Best of luck to JJ (who as a result of serious FOMO), was able to secure a last minute ride on Sanniesguns Bingo. Thank you to the Le Roux family for making this possible and for giving him this opportunity. Here's hoping they do us all proud.....Sterkte Jak!

Fauresmith memories.....The "extended" Ber-Kaz family through the years - so many friendships forged! To every rider that rode for us and brought our horses home safely, thank you.....Jandre Kasselman, Binki Kasselman, Chandré Kasselman, Jean-Jacques Kasselman, Monique Kasselman, Ulrich Kasselman, Rene Swanepoel, Caroli Wolhuter, Roodt Van Zyl, Ulrich Reynders, Lerieshka Vogel, Justine Snyders, Jenine Du Preez, Ria du Buisson, Emma Van Zyl and the international riders that also did us proud at Fauries on our horses. If I have omitted to mention a few - please forgive me! We weren't always successful, but we learnt so much.....Our hearts are full - you all form part of unforgettable Fauresmith memories (2006 -2024)

Fauresmith 200....A trip down memory lane. Introducing Potfontein Handel, our little Cape Riding Horse/Boerperd "pocket rocket". From 2008 - 2017 everyone riding endurance knew about this little gelding. Ridden by Monique Kasselman; they made a formidable team. Handel's introduction to endurance was quite by chance, and his story was documented in the Landbouweekblad of 27 March 2009 - the article: "Plaasperd kry sy dag!" Handel was quite the character and we always used to say "This 'donkey' thinks he's a stallion!" at any endurance ride - at home he was placid; but at a ride fiery and headstrong. Handel successfully completed 3 Fauresmiths. What makes him extra special is that he was ridden BAREFOOT! In 2010 Monique & Handel won the children's division in 9:02:10 - they also took home the Best Conditioned trophy. In 2011 this combination finished 4th amongst the Juniors and they also rode a overall Top 10 with a time of 8:34:31 - this is also the fastest time recorded for a BAREFOOT horse at Fauresmith. Monique and Handel went on to ride 120kms and finally 160's. This little gelding gave Monique her Junior, as well as Senior honorary "Springbok" colours in endurance. Handel is still with us today - he is a healthy "old man" - 24 years old and living his best horse life ever. Potfontein Handel, Ber-Kaz Endurance salute you!
