McDonald Mohlama (38) and his son Kabelo (9) from Alexandra were participating in the Ludo tournament we had this past weekend in Soweto.

"We used to play for fun and now that it's competitive it's empowering us. I'm unemployed and this is a good way to make a difference in our lives. I brought my son here to be part of the fun." -McDonald

Levy Moatshe (35) from Dobsonville, Soweto, one of the winners in the second round of the tournament has been playing Ludo ko Kasi since he was very young.

"Ive been playing Ludo for a very long time and when I heard about the Ludo tournaments this week, I wanted to be part of it."

We just finished the first round of the tournament and we spoke to Musa Mwale (12) who is one of the participants.

"I started playing Ludo recently and I really love it because it's a bit like math and chess. I like anything to do with numbers." -Musa

The great thing about Ludo is that it is open to players as young as Musa right to the older generation. People of any race, gender and even physical disabilities can participate.

MMC for Community Development at the City of Johannesburg, Ms Nonhlanhla Sifumba has joined us to watch the final showdown do today's tournament in Soweto.

"I love Ludo because it's open to everyone, from young children right up until the adults. It's good to see such a diverse group of people playing in the same league." MMC Sifumba

A special thanks to all our participants in today's tournament, what a great turn out and lots of fun had! We are definitely looking forward to the next one, we will continue to grow and reach out to communities through the game.

We hosted a Ludo League Tournament on Saturday, 03 June 2017. The Ludo League went back to where it all started for us in the township of Alexandra, Gauteng. People from all walks of life came in numbers to enjoy and participate in the game. A great day of fun, play and life changing activity.
