Projects filmed out on location and in the elements always carry a unique authenticity, but they also present challenges from a sound perspective. Foley and detailed sound work become an essential part of rebuilding texture, emotion and realism, helping audiences feel the environment, the atmosphere and the heart behind every story.

“From South Africa to Burbank baby!” 🇿🇦➡️🇺🇸

How cool is this?! I honestly couldn’t have asked for better feedback than this from the one and only Sound Re-recording Mixer Joel D. Catalan.

I sent him the mix we did for “The Nowhere Man” a series we mixed last year, and this is the video feedback he sent back. He tested it in his studio and our mix translated perfectly on his system - the same environment where countless top-tier productions are mixed for Hollywood.

As someone working all the way in South Africa 🇿🇦 , getting feedback like this from a mixer based in Burbank, California is seriously inspiring and motivating for the whole team!

Now that the dust has settled, we can finally share some highlights from last week at the Joburg Film Festival.

Three days of some powerful conversations, inspiring talks, and the chance to connect with some of the most incredible storytellers - not just from Jozi 🇿🇦, but from across the globe 🌎.

The industry is changing fast. But one thing remains the same... we all have a passion for storytelling 🎞️ but collaboration is key!

We keep pushing and are excited for what’s next 🎬✨

From South Africa to Sunset Boulevard!

Seeing The Nowhere Man lighting up billboards in the USA on Starz is an unreal, full circle moment. This series was produced and shot in South Africa and is now making waves internationally right in the heart of Hollywood.

We are incredibly proud here at One Nation Studios to have handled the audio post production, including the overall sound design, final mix, foley and dialogue editing for this project. A massive shout out to our amazing collaborators Motion Story for trusting us with the sound and for helping bring this story to life on a global stage.

Wishing nothing but the best to everyone who poured their talent, passion and countless hours into making this series what it is. This is a huge win for South African storytelling and collaboration and we are beyond excited to see where this journey leads next.
