Chaz wanted two things as a kid. To make things and to lead something important. Both instincts were always running in parallel. He’s living them out now.
He joined 80eight about a year and a half ago. Before that he was building his own fintech platform. When he sat down with Faadil and realised they were chasing the same future, joining made sense.
His title is Chief Product Officer. What that actually means is obsession. With the quality of the product. With where users are getting stuck. With what’s better today than it was yesterday. He’ll tell you obsession can’t be taught. But channelled right, it’s the most powerful thing on a team.
The first question every day is the same. Is the app good? Are customers happy? Nothing else matters if that part is off.
Winning is simple. A customer comes in with an intention and walks away having done the thing. They came in to do something, and the product let them do it. That’s it.
