If a leader, leaders, or a structure that owes its existence to its membership is feared by the very members, there is a huge problem. It reflects a disconnect that will persist for the entire duration of their mandate. Leadership should serve, not intimidate.
Many times, members of political or community structures are too docile, allowing greed-driven leaders to thrive. These leaders often take advantage of their positions, focusing on personal gain rather than fulfilling the needs of the very people who entrusted them with leadership. This imbalance creates an environment where narrow, selfish aspirations override collective progress, deepening the divide between leaders and their members.
This calls for members to be more conscious and discerning when electing their leaders. They must ensure they choose individuals who will serve their interests, not self-serving leaders who sidetrack the collective vision. It’s time for members to take charge and demand accountability from those they put in power.
