⚓📸 A journey through 400 years of maritime history!
The Embassy of France in South Africa, Lesotho and Malawi, the French Defence Mission in Pretoria, the French Institute of South Africa (IFAS), the Alliance Française of Durban and the Port Natal Maritime Museum invite you to discover a unique photo exhibition commemorating the 400th anniversary of the French Navy.
From historic voyages to contemporary missions across the globe, this exhibition celebrates four centuries of French naval heritage, innovation, and commitment to the world’s oceans.
The exhibition also marks the upcoming arrival in Durban of L’Astrolabe, France’s iconic polar patrol and research vessel, highlighting France’s long-standing engagement in the Southern Ocean and Antarctica, as well as the strong maritime ties between France and South Africa.
As the world continues to reflect on the importance of protecting our oceans following World Oceans Day, this exhibition serves as a reminder of the shared commitment of France and South Africa to maritime cooperation, scientific exploration, and ocean conservation.
It is also the perfect opportunity to (re)discover the Port Natal Maritime Museum, one of Durban’s hidden gems, and explore its fascinating permanent collection dedicated to the city’s rich maritime history.
